Billy Willbond built it and the C.A.V came..
We came, our numbers were not great, or so colossal as to bring fear to any hearts.
The Mayor of Perth himself was on the roof to raise the C.A.V flag just under the Canada flag flying on city hall, but thankfully others arrived to take on the task of the raising and he was with us as we saluted from on the street watching it go up. Some say an Honor, others say a great thing well earned, I say all of the above, those accolades are well deserved by all of the C.A.V family, in any city at any event.
Those who gave so much and worked tirelessly while asking for nothing in return, had their hearts filled to bursting with that feeling of Riding and Having fun while helping others.
We had the honor of Billy Willbond and Lew Mackenzie, and our VP Ernest Hall aka "Buddha".
Sky Pilot was there to ensure all those other things went well. and with his connections, well of course they did.
We rode, ate and drank, slept on a deflating air mattress in a tent at 12 degrees, that was cold and uncomfy to say the least, waking up every 2 hrs to fill the mattress with air...memories of Cornwallis and Fire Picket...arrrrrggghhh....ok ok Enough about me, back to the subject...
The local Knights of Columbus and Legion were there for us C.A.V folks, we are blessed to have a very polished Organisational Image which is well respected. Makes be proud to be called brother, Thank You all for that privilege.
A good time was had by all, a great scenic ride , great food, great prizes, and a lot of funds raised.
The group was smaller than normal but not in heart and spirit, they were large and caring as always anywhere.
To Quote Billy Wilbond..."the poorest of the poor", have gotten help yet again.
Enough was raised to give sight to more than 2000 blind children, in the poorest places on earth and you know. Billy will make sure they get to see.
It made me feel good to know that was why we were there, together to help, while riding and having fun.
Thanks to the tireless work of so many C.A.V brothers and Sisters, the cities, towns and villages we choose to do these things in welcome us with open hearts and help us to help others.
I am so proud to state that anywhere the C.A.V assembles, even the police help us out, not many organisations can make that claim, brothers and Sisters !
It is Heart lifting just to take part.
Just a Soldier...
