We met at my home in Ottawa, and the 3 of us went to meet MR, and MRs ...."Shadow" in Petawawa...
Nothing can prepare you for an event of this porportion...
To say the time of your life is a great understatement...
We met many others in Petawawa, and kick stands up, off we went to Kenora, Ontario.
and the last of 5 years of annual C.A.V meetings.
Riding in a large group sure can be streessful, unless of course the leads and the sweep, know what they are doing like Aces...Having a great group of riders helps as well.
After the first day of riding we arrived at ...Marten,.River and off I went to wash and swim in the river...yea..a beach and all...
That night, we all became great friends, and had the first of many incredible nights.
The next day kick stands up, ummm.. did I mention my head hurt a bit..Just a bit.
We were now off,did I mention 26 years ago I got out of the Forces, then we arrive in Longlac, a nice native community, which has a motel and a gasbar...Whew...
After a few people told us to leave nothing on our bikes, as the 2000 extra native folks evacuated from their homes, due to terrible fires up North in those native communities, are in Longlac and the bikes remaining safe could be an issue, Mr Shad.. .... I mean "Drifter and some others decide to set up a nights shift of ...Yes I am telling the truth "Fire Pickets" to watch the bikes, I went to sleep early that night, then up at 5 am to do my shift with my partner till 6 am ... uggghhhh...LoL
Kick stands up and another 750 kms to cover, we were off to Kenora, Of course none of us were tired...........need sleep, must get sleep, opps sorry back to what I was typing.;..
We arrived in Kenora...well sort of, we arrive at the LCBO just before Kenora, we gots to load up for sleep, ask any soldier it is a sleep aid we all need different types, but hey we are former Milatary and we know that it is a great...ok ok enough said, .....
We did not have any problems at all with the bikes on the way, my Helmet missed everybody as it came off and flew backwards, and no one was killed by my side panel, the next day as they drove over it, Personal note...must get a newer bike !
Once in kenore, we went to the Legion to meet and Greet.
I have been in many a legion, never seen anything like this, I met Billy Wilmont the man of ICROSS, a very big man, with a heart many times larger than his posterior...
The man has saved so many lives with the aid of that big guy with the limp, and all those friends he has with those vests they all wear proudly...THANK YOU ALL.
On a personal note I was hosted by Dan and Brenda as were 2 good friends... these folks are sort of like family only better, none of the hangups, just simply the best of the best, which is just what the C.A.V attracts...
When I state the folks in the C.A,.V are the best, well they are, but some rise above being the best to I don't know the words, but we have alll seen it, just look or chat with the big guy with the limp.
At the Sunday Fish Fry meet at the PUFF firestation, yes I said PUFF, and Puff the majic dragon got worn out there that day we had a wonderful time, a very great singer wrote and sang us a song for the first time ever, you will all get to hear it and those incredible folks from the Hindenburg line will be making it into a video and such, it is a true tribute to our poeple, once again a THANK YOU. Songster
Sunday night comes along and it just happens that the city of Kenora is having a fireworks show in the harborfront, and what a fit, WOW the Hintenburg line, puts on a show so good that the entire communtiy turns out to see the Incredible fireworks.
Now it was of course a coincedence, but a good one all the same...
To the O.P.P from Kenora who lead a drive through the city for us al wearing the red and black vested uniform, Thank You, it is so kewl to belong to an organisation which gets respected not as a matter of order, but as a matter of earn...
The peolple and area of kenora, is beyond words, a group of folks even the Patriot Gaurds, out of the USA came out to be with on this event, just the best of the best...Once again Thank You All, and I think I speak for eveyone on that one.
Now typing in a motel in Grand forks , North dakota, where i am as a Lonewolf, on my way to Sturgis, after being escorted here by members of the Patroit gaurds, I say good night and onto Part DEUX Later Soldier.....
