Some say I hate cats, some say support something worthwhile, some say your not so bright , why don't you support a better cause?
I have heard that in some parts of the world they would say supporting our brothers and sisters is stupid, and not worth a damn, and I know I am not alone knowing that?
As we rode through the seaway around Ottawa, Merrickville, Brockville, it struck me that to support is not to decide what is good or bad, but to support. the simple is always the best answer.
I would stand with any brother or sister and aid without question, I like to think I would not judge, Judging is not the job I signed up for , when I choose to put on this red and black uniform. I signed up, to help others and have fun, I reaffirm this annually by signing my "Strength and Honor" contract.
Yes, I rode to support Kitty's.
While I was in Brockville having lunch, a family came over to me and a very old gentleman started talking to me about his service in the Korean war.
I have watch the big guy with that limp on many occasions, and just how intently he listens to the old soldiers stories, a lesson I am very proud to say I now use at ever opportunity.
That old soldiers comments, were heart lifting for both of us, as he told me about mutinies within the Canadian Navy I had never heard of, and so many other things, it seemed as though he was unloading....many years later, it is just how it seemed to me....
It has amazed me to learn that to use that art of listening can make me and the old soldier talking feel so good. I am glad I paid enough attention to that big guy with the limp to have learned just how to talk with a soldier, I can now scream endlessly with my ears, and it seems to work so well. Thanks for that you old Trapper.
It is funny how when you least expect to understand something, it does just that ...to you...
Did I mention that family came over cause they noticed my C.A.V vest and wanted to let me know how great of a help we are to everyone, especially those in smaller communities, all over Canada.
The members of this family work for the aid and recovery department for soldiers coming back from afganistan, and Veterans affairs, I must apologize they told me but I have forgotten exactly what it was called, but it was to help the soldier, and they told me about how C.A.V really fills gaps. Pat yourselves on the back, for what you do is well recognized and appreciated.
I learned all this while riding to support a Cat sanctuary.
What will I do over the years as I ride for those causes everyone considers so much better than kitty's.
Hope to see you all in Trenton on the 27th..
Later Soldier
